Sarah was born in London in 1976. Her education took her to the Kent Institute, where in 1995 she achieved a BTEC in Art and Design. This enabled her to go to Nottingham Trent University to study textile design. She graduated in 1998 with a BA (Hons) degree. Over the next few years Sarah found herself working with the accomplished Kent artist Robert McKellar. One aspect of her work she developed at this time was her drawing and painting of animals, where her work is quick and energetic with marks reminiscent of oriental mark making. She plays with the scale and positioning of her paintings on a blank canvas to create more interesting compositions.
